IN a year or so where gaming has been a non-existent reference area, I found a blogpost by “CTRubog”, a video game enthusiast who’s behind a website called VideogameGeekOfficial, who has been capturing and saving every pixel on iPhone footage from games since 2010, and I’ve now decided to give it a spin. I wanted to see what success I’d had on a platform that was already well established in the gaming sphere, what aspects of mobile gaming did well, and how I could improve.
At first, I was really baffled by the aspect of capturing screenshots from games on a mobile device, but in researching, I realized that this was a surprisingly simple process — from a library, I manually input information, extract them, and save them. It helps a lot to do this very quickly and you can save a decent quantity of data to a nice spreadsheet like Google Drive, I use one because while I find Reddit’s comments to be a part of the continual entertaining part of gaming, I don’t really like to compulsively respond to the negativity and be bombarded with trolls.
My general objective here is to cover the most exciting things, apps, and games that I see and play, but there are a few more aspects that I really love about this type of smartphone photography, and that I wouldn’t have ever thought of doing on my laptop. I can get all the information from the shots I take, meaning that I never have to query anyone who took that pic when I’m trying to figure out what’s in my memory. I’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with this, but I’m loving exploring more feature calls for this camera, and shooting games as well as other things. The more ideas I have of how to improve photography from my phone are actually very surprising. I haven’t gotten it wrong at all though!
