EDIUS is an excellent non-linear editing software of the Grass Valley company in the United States.
Grass Valley™’s EDIUS®6, a powerful multi-format editing platform widely used in the industry, won the IBC2010 Best Product Award jointly selected by many editors from TVB Europe and The IBC Daily.
The award is a recognition of the new features of EDIUS6. These new features, as always, help users, independent producers, and professional users optimize their workflow, while increasing speed, supporting more formats, and improving system operating efficiency. EDIUS 6 allows users to use any video standard, even up to 1080p50/60 or 4K digital movie resolution. At the same time, EDIUS6 supports source code editing of all mainstream codecs used in the industry, even when different encoding formats are mixed on the timeline without transcoding. In addition, users can preview various special effects in real-time without rendering.
EDIUS 6 continues the tradition of Grass Valley, showing unparalleled ability to edit complex compression formats, said Jeff Rosica, Senior Vice President of Grass Valley. This further helps users focus on editing and creation without worrying about technical issues. Most of the functions of EDIUS6 are derived from users' needs for various new features, making EDIUS solutions a more valuable tool for post-production.
EDIUS non-linear editing software is specially designed for broadcasting and post-production, especially those production environments that use new, tapeless video recording and storage devices.
Editing system
Non-linear editing: EDIUS software + editing hardware
HDSTORM, EDIUS NX Express, and EDIUS SP-SDI are non-linear editing systems designed for EDIUS editing software. EDIUS software is included in the packaging of the three hardware products with different functions. EDIUS supports OHCI FireWire and supports direct input and output of a video from DV and HDV devices.

Minimum system requirements
EDIUS non-editing software can edit SD and HD materials in real-time. Of course, the system requirements for real-time editing of HD are much higher than those of real-time editing of SD. The system requirements listed here refer to meeting real-time HD editing.
· Intel or AMD CPU, 3 GHz or faster (recommend multiple CPUs and multi-core CPUs, support SSE2 and SSE3 instruction sets)
· 1 or 2 GB or more recommended)
· 800MB or more of disk space
· DVD-ROM for software installation
· Requires ATA 100/7200rpm or a faster hard disk to support at least 20 MB/sec data throughput. Multiple HD stream output requires two or more hard drives to form a RAID.
· The graphics card needs to have at least 256 MB of video memory (512 MB recommended), and support Pixel Shader Model 3.0 or higher (for example, based on DX9)
· Installing HDSTORM Bay requires an unused 5.25-inch bay
· Windows XPHome or Windows XP Professional (SP2 or higher, 32-bit), Windows Vista (SP1 or higher, 32-bit or 64-bit), including the following operating systems: Windows 7
·(Note: Windows XP is only compatible with EDIUS6 and the following software versions, higher versions, such as EDIUS6.5, EDIUS7, EDIUS8 need to use WINDOWS 7 64bit system, EDIUS7 and EDIUS8 are compatible with WIN 8 and WIN 10 at the same time)
· An unused USB port is required to install the dongle (model 1.1 or above)
·(Note: The hardware USB dongle is no longer used since EDIUS 6.5, and the serial number network activation method is adopted)
· Sound Card
Note: To connect an external video recorder/camcorder, a free FireWire socket (IEEE 1394) or USB 2.0 socket is required.
Support I/O hardware:
· IEEE 1394 FireWire
· ACEDVio
· HDSTORM** (discontinued)
· EDIUS NX series (discontinued)
· EDIUS SP series (discontinued)
· EDIUS SD/HDLE/HD series (discontinued)
** Only 32-bit is supported. The Windows Vista 64-bit driver is expected to be released in 2009.
·STORM PRO
·STROM 3G
·STROM 3G ELITE
·STROM MOBILE
Function editing
EDIUS Pro5
The newly released EDIUS software is mainly used to integrate various popular or latest video technologies used by post-editors into a complete package, rather than a basic video editing software package. However, this does not mean that EDIUS, as a non-editing software, does not have any new feature improvements:
●Unify the interface and expand the scope of video format support
Support Windows Vista
GPUfx-GPU accelerated video transition
New built-in output interface
●Other interface function improvements
New third-party software packages
Support Windows Vista
This is one of the important factors for the release of this version. EDIUS has fully supported Microsoft's latest 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. We have removed some functions that do not support the new system, such as ProCoder Express for EDIUS and Xplode for EDIUS, and will have new components to replace them.
The EDIUS series hardware also supports Windows Vista. Users who use EDIUS NX and EDIUS SP non-linear editing systems have been able to switch their working environment to Windows Vista.
●Unify the interface and expand the scope of video format support
EDIUS Pro and EDIUS Broadcast have been merged into one software package, allowing every user to use the latest video formats on the professional market. Whether you are importing, editing, or exporting the following formats, EDIUS will provide complete source code editing:
Thomson Grass Valley™ Infinity JPEG 2000
Panasonic DVCPRO 50 and DVCPRO HD
Panasonic P2 (drives and media)
Panasonic VariCam
Panasonic AVC-Intra
Sony XDCAM and XDCAM HD (including 4:2:2 50Mbit)
Sony XDCAM EX
JVC ProHD
Ikegami GFCAM
AVCHD
HDV
Most of the above formats have tailor-made import tools, EDIUS guarantees that you can completely import the metadata carried by the material.
EDIUS adds a universal MXF exporter, giving producers more ways to publish videos. The MXF package format can not only be broadcast on the Thomson Grass Valley K2 media server but also supports other third-party servers.
In addition, the MXF exporter is also equipped with an FTP upload function, and MPEG-2 data supports EDIUS unique paragraph encoding and multi-threaded encoding.
●GPUfx-GPU accelerated video transition
Due to the removal of the old
